LTATM EP 20 — The Second Look Back: A Journey Through Season 1, Part II

Episode Summary

In Episode 20, we return to the heart of Season 1 with a second "Look Back," revisiting conversations, artists, moments, and stories from Episodes 8 through 16. This is where LTATM’s identity really came into focus: deeper interviews, stronger storytelling, live spotlights, collaborations, and the growing presence of the PNW music scene.

From unforgettable festival moments to powerful artist origins, EP 20 reflects on how far the show has come and sets the stage for the next chapter.

Episodes Featured in This Look Back:

EP 8: The Blues with Willie and the Whips

In Episode 9 of Let’s Talk About The Music (LTATM), host Shels L Pixi explores the fascinating history and evolution of music promotions and its impact on the industry today. Special guests Morgue Anne of Seattle (Burlesque Super Villainess and twice-elected Gothic Pride Royalty) and Stephen James Moore (founder of Independent Music Promotions) share their valuable insights on how artists can market their music successfully.

EP 9: Music Promotions

In Episode 9 of Let’s Talk About The Music (LTATM), host Shels L Pixi explores the fascinating history and evolution of music promotions and its impact on the industry today. Special guests Morgue Anne of Seattle (Burlesque Super Villainess and twice-elected Gothic Pride Royalty) and Stephen James Moore (founder of Independent Music Promotions) share their valuable insights on how artists can market their music successfully.

EP 10: Women Drummers

Yes… It’s not an error. Episode 9 had issues and we went right into Episode 10 with a deeper dive into the PNW female rock community: influences, challenges, and what drives musicians to keep going. Ripley from Juliet Tango and Evita from Way Past Midnight take apart their journeys as women drummers in the PNW industry with humor, honesty, and encouragement.

EP 11: Women Sound Engineers

We continued our spotlight on women in the indie music industry by showcasing an incredibly important, but often overlooked, role: the sound engineer. Alicia, Denise, Giorgi, and Jam join Shels in a review of the pioneering work of women in a field still dominated by men. This episode highlights the power of collaboration, featuring engineers who thrive in community-based music spaces and are innovating in real time.

EP 12: Band Managers

Episode 12 delved into the roles of band managers in supporting an artist’s growth into the best possible expression of their unique vision. Mike (Limberlost) and Melody (Meghanne Storey) took us on a celebration of creative growth, new projects, and reinvention. This episode marked a shift into more dynamic interviews..

EP 13: A Look Back

Our first recap episode revisited the earliest days of Season 1 and reflected on how LTATM was beginning to reshape itself after the relaunch.

EP 14: Independent Labels

Signing with a label can be one of the greatest moments in an artist or band’s career… or it’s biggest nightmare. Episode 14 brought in representatives from two indie music labels to discuss the good and the bad, including how to avoid scams and shady deals. We had a standout conversation full of passion, energy, and deep artistic insight in one of our most engaging mid-season episodes

EP 15: PNW Indie Music Legends + Fifteen Stitches

Episode 15 was full of heart, history, and PNW culture. Fabulous band Fifteen Stitches opened up about legacy, local scenes, and the evolution of indie music — and we see how much Shels will flip things for her wonderful guests!

EP 16: Man on the Mountain + The History of Song Structure

This episode incorporated a perfect blend of storytelling and music education. We explored song structure throughout history, how modern bands use old techniques, the creative identity of Man on the Mountain, and why song form still matters today. Ep 16 became one of the season’s strongest educational moments.

This is my second look back at Season 1 of Let’s Talk About The Music, highlighting Episodes 8–16. Each episode brings something different, and there’s still more to revisit as the journey continues.
